I’m Harry from Wellington and I run Frond Books in my spare time.

I thought I would explain a little bit about the business, and in future publish a few more posts so you can follow along with my little experiment.

I have a day job but for a while have been interested in business and wanted to give something a go outside of work. I set this online bookstore up in mid-2024.

Selling second hand books seemed like a low-risk venture I could get started with. It required only a small investment and if it all went belly up I would only be stuck with a few books I could donate to a second hand store. I also love shopping in second hand shops and markets, so buying stock is fun. At the moment I’m just storing my stock in boxes in the spare room in my house.

The great thing about starting an e-commerce site in 2024 is that there are a lot of really low cost digital tools that enable you to get started with only a minimal investment. The hosting for this website was just over $100 per year, and then I had to pay for a domain name as well which was about $30.

In future posts I’ll explain how the business is going, how I pick up stock, how I sell books, etc.
