The best personal finance books for kiwis

This is a round up of the best personal finance books for kiwis. I’ve searched the web for lots of ‘best of’ lists and identified the common picks, as well as chucked in a few of my favourites.

You can see all personal finance books that Frond Books stocks here.

1. Rich Enough?: A Laid-back Guide for Every Kiwi by Mary Holm

Mary Holm has been educating kiwis on personal finance for decades, and I read lots of her columns in the NZ Herald.

‘Mary Holm is in the first rank of New Zealanders offering simple and wise advice to those who want to take effective steps to secure their future financial wellbeing. This straightforward guide should help ordinary Kiwis navigate their way through the various traps they can fall into.’ โ€“ SIR MICHAEL CULLEN, FORMER DEPUTY PRIME MINISTER and MINISTER OF FINANCE

2. The Barefoot Investor by Scott Pape

This is an incredibly popular book for Australian and New Zealand audiences and is probably the biggest seller on the list. While it’s written for an Australian audience almost everything is applicable to New Zealand, and MoneyHub has written a guide on applying the principles to NZ.

3. Tales from a Financial Hot Mess by Frances Cook

Written by a popular podcaster and writer, this book is part memoir part personal finance advice.

4. The Psychology of Money: Timeless lessons on wealth, greed, and happiness by Morgan Housel

A very interesting book on all the ways humans are flawed when it comes to thinking about money. Highly recommended.

5. The Richest Man in Babylon by George S. Clason

6. The Little Book of Common Sense Investing by John Bogle
