Looking back on 2024

I thought some reflection was in order as 2024 comes to an end.

First of all, a big thank you to all the people who have bought books from Frond Books this year โ€“ I really appreciate it and it means a lot!

Here are some stats on how it’s gone since I started Frond Books.

  • 238 books processed at one point or another in my inventory
  • 58 books sold (the vast majority through TradeMe)
  • 180 books still in inventory

In terms of the revenue side of things:

  • Total save revenue (including shipping costs etc) = $1,067
  • Total book sales = $737
  • Total profit = $388
  • Average profit per book = $6.7
  • Highest profit in a sale = $46
  • Lowest profit on a sale = -$3.42. (Always annoying to lose money on a sale!)

Was all the time I spent buying, cataloguing and selling books worth it financially? Almost certainly not. This would come out to a terrible hourly wage!!

Overall the numbers may not sound very impressive but I’m having fun and learning lots about the book trade, how to run an e-commerce site, and lots of other things. I’m not looking forward to the first tax return which will have to include this stuff though โ€“ that’s a problem for 2025.

Happy holidays and happy reading!
